The idol at Tirumala is about 9 ft in height and people say this idol is Lord Murga and later it has been converted as Lord vishnu.But there are no proper fact to prove whether the Tirupati is actually Lord Muruga or Lord Vishnu. Other suspecting fact about Tirupati is that Kanchi Periyavar stated that, the sculpture of lions on the temple wall denotes that there is goddess inside the temple and that's why the sculpture has been made.
