People who want to get these new color voter ID cards can replace with their current black and white ones, but they will have to pay 25 rupees for having the new id card issued at the registration center of their district or city. The state election commissioners will be setting up block and subdivision level registration centers where people can walk-in and have their black and white card replaced with new voter ids.To celebrate the National Voters’ Day, an awareness event was organized by the election commission of India at the Sinchai Bhavan. Chief Secretery Anjani Kumar Sinha became the first person in India to receive a newly designee color Electors’ Photo Identity Card (EPIC). Earlier we used to have a black and white laminated voter id card in India but from today onwards across the country only PVC made color voter id cards will be distributed to voters who have registered for new ids or those who have applied for correction. The even theme was based on ECI’s slogan ‘Easy Registration, Easy Correction’ that aims at simplifying the process of new voter id registrations and correction in existing ID cards. Later on in the event some students were also distributed color EPICs
