சபரிமலை ஐயப்பனுடைய இரு கால்களும் ஏன் கட்டப்பட்டிருகின்றன ? Why two legs of Sabarimala Ayyappan are get tied ?

Ayyappa is one of the famous forms worshipped by the Hindus. The principal temple dedicated to Lord Ayyappa is in Sabarimala, or the hills of Sabari in Kerala state. Sabarimala has become a very famous pilgrimage spot for the Hindus with lakhs of devotees visiting the temple to have a glimpse of Lord Ayyappan's mesmerizing statue that is installed here in the sanctum sanctorum. Ayyappan is depicted in a child like form in a seated position with both the legs kept in front in a yogic posture. There is a rope running around just below the knee portion looking like a belt. There is a significant reason why Ayyappan's legs are tied. The historical story of Lord Ayyappa is so interesting. He is also called Hari Hara Sutha meaning the son of Lord Shiva and Vishnu. Thus he inherits in him the powers of both these gods. Having incarnated on this earth in a princely family, Lord Ayyappan became prey for an evil plot innovated by some in the royal family who did not want Ayyappan to become the legal heir to occupy the throne.
